Charles Ingram
Charles William Ingram (born 6 August 1963) is an English novelist, computer repairman, and former British Army major who became known for being accused and convicted of cheating on the television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2001, after winning the maximum prize of one million pounds. Following a lengthy trial at Southwark Crown Court, he was convicted on a single count of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception. He was convicted of an unrelated insurance fraud in 2003, and ordered to resign his commission as a major by the Army Board.

HERE is your first look at the Ingrams’ tense police interrogation in ITV’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire cheat drama Quiz. The new ITV series follows Charles Ingram and his wife Diana before, during and after his infamous £1 million win on the ITV quiz show in 2001.

The 'coughing scandal' that ensued made national headlines after the couple were accused of planting someone in the audience to cough when they heard the right answer.

In this exclusive clip, the Ingrams - played by Matthew Macfadyen and Sian Clifford - are taken in by the police for questioning following their historic win.

Charles is handed a transcript of his appearance on the show, and asked to explain why he changed his mind on his answers so much.
