Charles Ingram
Charles William Ingram (born 6 August 1963) is an English novelist, computer repairman, and former British Army major who became known for being accused and convicted of cheating on the television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2001, after winning the maximum prize of one million pounds. Following a lengthy trial at Southwark Crown Court, he was convicted on a single count of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception. He was convicted of an unrelated insurance fraud in 2003, and ordered to resign his commission as a major by the Army Board.

ITV show Quiz, which documented the infamous Who Wants To Be A Millionaire 'coughing scandal', came to an end last night. It one shocking scene Matthew McMayden, who played the cheating major Charles Ingram, found his dog covered in blood, after it was shot following the scandal.

After reassuring his daughters that all was okay, he later had to bury their pet pooch in gut-wrenching scenes. The real-life Charles Ingram, now 56, confirmed that the family pet was indeed shot, after his time on Chris Tarrant's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

A viewer of the programme tweeted Charles asking if his dog was shot, and he replied: "Cat. She was shot by an air gun. Buffy did survive, after an operation." He added: "James Graham probably didn’t know
