The Chase star Mark Labbett has spilled that cheats got extra help with nods and winks from fellow quizzers in the audience, it has been claimed.

Mark Labbett says contestants’ pals would sit behind former presenter Chris Tarrant. The show was plunged into crisis when Charles Ingram and his wife Diana cheated during a recording in 2001.

Now Mark, 54, who competed on game shows before joining The Chase, said: "If the Ingrams did cheat they cheated stupidly. Mark has made no suggestion about who cheated or how much they won – or if they managed to bag any cash at all.
