A drugged-up driver who had stopped his car in the middle of a Bishopton roundabout was caught red-handed by an off-duty cop who was out jogging.
Darren Hutchsion drove an uninsured Peugeot 207 into a roundabout on Bishopton’s Greenock Road in June 2021. The car – which had its hazard lights on – drew the attention of a member of the public who tried to help the 42-year-old push it off the road. When the off-duty police officer – who had been out running – offered her assistance, the member of the public told her Hutchsion was “full of it”.She contacted police and Hutchsion made off into a nearby field only to be arrested later and found to have white powder around his lips and a knife with an eight-inch blade in his underwear.
