Coronavirus: NHS worker tests positive for killer bug after returning from Italy

An NHS worker has tested positive for coronavirus and is self-isolating at home after returning from Italy. The patient works for the North Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.

It said the employee isolated themselves after returning home from Italy - the worst-affected European country - and did not go to work or have any contact with patients.

The risk to the public remains low and the Trust is operating "normally", it said. The announcement came after the UK's total number of cases increased to 53 following two more positive tests in Scotland.
