Colonel Tom Moore has today received his knighthood from the Queen. The national treasure raised more than £33million for NHS charities by walking laps of his garden during the coronavirus lockdown.
In Her Majesty's first public engagement since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, the World War Two hero has been knighted at Windsor Castle.
Colonel Tom was told in May he would receive the special honour thanks to his incredible achievement. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “Colonel Tom’s fantastic fundraising broke records, inspired the whole country and provided us all with a beacon of light through the fog of coronavirus. “On behalf of everyone who has been moved by his incredible story, I want to say a huge thank you.
