Brute attacked partner after 170-mile reunion to rekindle relationship

A woman travelled 170 miles to rekindle her relationship with her partner only to be attacked by him.Bail conditions were supposed to prevent Darren McGowan from seeing the woman at the time.But Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that she made the long trip from Inverness to his caravan in Tannochside.Aga Mathieson, prosecuting, said a witness saw McGowan pulling the woman’s hair, punching her and kicking her as she lay on the ground.McGowan, 40, admitted assaulting the woman in Morar Terrace on June 16 while on a bail order imposed at Inverness Sheriff Court the previous month.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
