Dens Park chief John Nelms revealed they asked the SPFL to delay the kick off, but the governing body took the final decision with the Rangers players returning to the team bus and making their way back to Glasgow.
However, Butland refused to allow the Rangers fans to waste their trip as he spent time with the punters to take photographs and sign autographs before the trip down the A9.
