Boris Johnson has slammed Chelsea fans for an 'inappropriate' chant after the UK government seized the assets of Roman Abramovich.The Prime Minister has imposed strict sanctions on Abramovich, 55, as part of a nationwide crackdown on high-ranking Russian oligarchs.The Blues owner has had his assets seized - including Chelsea Football Club - but that hasn't stopped supporters from chanting his name in the stands.
Chelsea fans were heard in chorus' of "Roman Abramovich" at Norwich during midweek and there were banners in support of their owner at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.But now Johnson has blasted fans who chose to show support for the Russian oligarch amid his country's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.His Spokesperson said via Sky Sports: "We recognise the strength of feeling around people's clubs but that does not excuse behaviour which is completely inappropriate at this time.
