Murdoch, 27, who hails from Balloch, narrowly missed out on a spot in the finals. Murdoch’s race strategy resembled that of his 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games victory, where swimming with easy speed for the first half of the race and pushing the last half more often than not would finish in success for the University of Stirling swimmer.
However, this time around was not to be. Ross, with his powerful, long and efficient stroke, was not able to come back to the field enough on the last length to execute the race plan.
