cocaine smuggling British grandmother on Bali's brutal Death Row is waiting for the day she is led out to be shot in the heart.Lindsay Sandiford, 65, was jailed in 2013 after being caught with a suitcase of drugs worth a staggering £1.6million.On the same paradise island young Brits flock to on their travels each year, the former legal secretary from Redcar, Yorkshire can do little else but knit until her time is up.

Built in 1979, Kerobokan Prison was designed to hold 300 inmates but inside its grim walls are over 1,400 male and female lags from around the world, left to waste away.Riots and constant spates of violence are reported as a result of the serious overcrowding, the Mirror reports.Like others behind bars in Bali, Sandiford's fate is to be executed but rather than by lethal injection as seen in certain American states, guards will open fire on her.

Most drug smugglers and dealers in Indonesia are sentenced to death with the choice to either sit or stand. Prisoners at Kerobokan prison, Bali, are led to a grassy area where armed soldiers each aim for the heart. If a convict somehow survives the firing squad, the commander must then shoot them in the head.

Indonesia carries out executions infrequently with most prisoners waiting on death row for more than 10 years.Sandiford had been working in management for many years at a law firm in Cheltenham when she arrived in Bali from Bangkok in Thailand on May 19, 2012.
