Meghan Markle made a brief return to the royal fold at the weekend as she and Prince Harry attended the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral. All eyes were on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, not least those of the legions of body language experts and lip-readers who studied the couple’s every move for clues about their current relationship with the Royal Family. One expert, Jesús Enrique Rosas, better known as The Body Language Guy, detected a few signs of nerves as the former Suits actress prepared to face her husband’s family for the first time in more than two years.Jesús told the Express: “When I was checking the footage, I noticed everyone was mentioning Meghan fixing her collar and it was always the left side…something has to be said about pacifying gestures."Pacifying gestures, he explains, are tiny unconscious movements that we make to calm ourselves when we’re nervous or stressed.Jesús added: "Pacifying gestures can be fixing our clothes or touching our faces, or in the case of Harry, touching his [wedding] ring.“This is a way to vent stress and it actually works, that’s why we do it.“But at the same time, we are telling the world we are nervous.“In the case of clothing, maybe the fit isn’t right and we feel a bit uncomfortable, but for any fitting adjustments, we usually pull - pull sleeves, skirts.“But this was a very deliberate move for her [Meghan] to touch her collar flap, she’s not really adjusting any fitting.”The Dior Spring 2022 Haute Couture ensemble Meghan had chosen for the occasion is unlikely to have effected her badly, so her constant adjustments are more likely to be an unconscious revelation of her state of mind than any reflection on the clothes.
