A woman left her family in hysterics after using a sanitary towel as a face mask in a taxi. Claire Cunningham from Kilmarnock, Scotland, was just about to jump in a taxi when she realised she had forgotten her face covering.

Face coverings are now mandatory on public transport and taxis in Scotland in a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus. So when Claire, in a panic, realised she didn't have one she ran back inside to find an alternative.

The 36-year-old grabbed a sanitary towel to put over her mouth and nose for protection, the Daily Record reports. But her family couldn’t believe she had gone ahead with her ‘compromised’ idea.
