Zedan is the chairman of Zedan Group, which deals with energy and petrochemical sectors in Saudi Arabia.However, the group also encompasses the Zedan Racing Stables, whose horse was disqualified from the Kentucky Derby last May.

The 'world's most famous horse race' was thrown into turmoil when Medina Spirit, Zedan's horse, tested positive for betamethasone, a type of steroid.Medina Spirit was officially disqualified from the Kentucky Derby in February - two months after the horse had died.Bob Baffert, the horse's trainer, was banned from entering horses into the Kentucky Derby for two years after the controversy.
