Oscar-winning film director Danny Boyle has sent a video message to bus drivers to thank them for keeping going during the coronavirus epidemic.

The director, best known for films like Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire, sent a heartfelt message of appreciation to the Go North West bus operator in honour of Bus Workers Day on Wednesday - joking 'I realise I've missed the bus on this'.

Danny Boyle hails from Radcliffe and said a special thank you to the drivers on route 524 from Bury to Bolton, which passes through his 'remarkable' hometown.
