Protesters at an anti-racism rally have clashed in Glasgow today after police advised them to stay away. Police have been forced to form a barrier between two different groups as violent scuffles break out between anti-racism protesters and statue "defenders".
The large crowd turned out for the Glasgow Says No To Racism event that kicked off at 10.30am with a host of speakers. Trade unionists and campaigners addressed the mass gathering and called for Scots to come together in a bid to end racism.
Organisers of today's anti-racism event said it is aimed at "sending a positive anti-racist message from Glasgow's George Square to the world on World Refugee Day" - as protesters were filmed kneeling or standing this morning.
