The woman also suggested wind up radios "to receive information in the event of an emergency."Food wise, the Scot said that some long-life store foods "that you would use anyway," are important but said she's gone even further, producing her own food. "For people in the UK, ways of producing your own food are essential in the event of war, even if its just tomatoes, herbs and potatoes in containers on a balcony," she said.She added that a camp stove is important, should normal energy sources deplete.

A way of sterilising water is important too, she said. "During WW2 my family had a small holding and were able to supplement their diets with home grown food during rationing.
