robbery that left her with a broken hip was later attacked with boiling water in prison.Dean Kenyon, 35, snatched from the 79-year-old victim as she waited for her daughter to pick her up.The traumatic incident in Consett, County Durham, on January 12 left her with life-changing injuries.After the criminal was caught by cops via CCTV images, he was arrested and remanded in custody.Whilst on remand behind bars, he became victim to a “horrific attack” involving boiling water that left him in “constant and searing pain”.Durham Crown Court heard how Kenyon, of Parkside Crescent, Seaham, needed five skin graft operations following the incident.Mitigating lawyer Chris Morrison said his client “had boiling water poured over his arms and legs, resulting in skin grafts…“He has had five skin graft operations and his mobility is to be affected by these.

He is currently heavily sedated and is in constant and searing pain.’Morrison told the court that Kenyon committed the crime to get cash for drugs and claimed: “The level of remorse in this matter is apparent.“When the sober realisation of what he had done to that vulnerable lady dawned upon him, he was mortified, and is mortified to this day.”Stay in the loop with all the Daily Star's latest news by signing up to our free newsletter here.A prosecutor, Annie Richardson, said the elderly victim was left with “severe pain in her right hip” and explained her keys were later found in Kenyon’s jacket.It wasn’t the first time the 35-year-old was involved in such a crime, and the court heard he also pinched a purse from a woman in her 50s in 2020.Kenyon, who pled guilty to robbery after he appeared at the court via link from HMP Durham, was sentenced by Judge James Adkin to a six-year.
