It’s this very research that helped set up the groundwork for Sappho Events, a new LGBT+ company aimed at hosting safe and sober events for queer women and non-binary people interested in women.Founded by Maryann Wright, the events hope to inspire queer women with alternatives to clubbing and will stem a variety of interests including quiz nights, boxing sessions, and speed dating - all held online throughout the pandemic, of course.But when the pandemic eases and venues are able to safely reopen, Maryann has big plans to launch the events across the country including Manchester.Originally from Sydney, Maryann moved to London three years ago and says she was left surprised by the British queer scene.
