A teenager was attacked with a machete while trying to assist a woman who had been assaulted by her partner after a funeral.
The youth, 17, and his partner were walking past the home of Nathan Johnson, 32, as he left his partner sprawled across the ground by shoving her out of the house.
The teenagers helped to retrieve the woman's dog, which Johnson, from Gosforth, Newcastle, had also kicked out, and contacted the police.
Johnson then emerged from the home armed with a machete and used it to attack the teen, striking him on the leg and causing a painful wound, Chronicle Live reports.
