Renfrew Ladies and Girls FC celebrated another year of continued development with a glitzy annual awards night.Marking the club’s achievements during 2021, more than 100 players and their families gathered in the Blythswood Suite at the Normandy Hotel.Awards were dished out to all age groups, from the club’s under 13s all the way up to the senior side.Renfrew Ladies club captain Kristy Mcgunnigle, who has played a key role in the expansion of the club’s youth sections, told Express Sport: “It was a fantastic night for our players, parents, coaches and supporters to come together away from the football pitch and get dressed up to celebrate our club achievements.“During the 2021 season, our club grew to over 130 girls in our youth teams, with age groups now at under-7s, 9s, 11s, 13s and 15s.“We also brought together our first 11-a-side youth team, with our coaching team expanding to more than 20 volunteers.“We also battled through the Covid-19 pandemic to make sure all our girls continued to play football safely.”The award winners were as follows: Under-13s special awards – Most improved: Ruby MacDonald.

Most consistent: Karleigh Gilmore. Players’ player of the year: Chloe Sheridan. Manager’s player of the year: Karis Mitchell .Under-15s competitive – Most improved: Penny Harvey.

Most consistent: Kate Potts. Players’ player of the year: Sarah Sawaya. Manager’s player of the year: Lilley Mair.Renfrew Ladies 100 club appearances: Sam McQuillian, Sammy Jo Smith, Sophie Laird, Debz McGarrall and Karen Baillie.
