Tear-jerking moment Ukraine fans bellow national anthem before Scotland clash

It was their first competitive international fixture since the Russian invasion of Ukraine back in February and the ongoing devastation to their native country has left players feeling devastated.Premier League stars such as Oleksandr Zinchenko, Vitaliy Mykolenko and Andriy Yarmolenko, who vowed to continue playing while soldiers defended their country, were included in the starting XI for the clash on Wednesday.
And there was not a dry eye in the stadium when the players made their way out onto the pitch.The 11 Ukraine starting players could be seen with the blue and yellow flags draped around their shoulders as they joined each other by linking arms, while fans held up hundreds of flags in the crowd.And it was no surprise to see emotions running high as the footballers and supporters struggled to hold back their tears, singing their country’s anthem with pride and deafening vocals.
Ukraine fans in the stands were captured on camera singing at the top of their lungs as they belted out the song, and Scotland fans showed their class with a generous reception when the anthem had finished playing.Aside from a charity fixture against Borussia Monchengladbach in May, some Ukraine players hadn’t played for months amid the suspension of Ukrainian top flight football.
