A man who died after getting into difficulty in a Scots loch yesterday has been named as Stephen Slavin. A major search and rescue operation was launched at Loch Caitiosbhal, near Marvig, on the Isle of Lewis on Sunday morning.
The body of Stephen, who was from Ayrshire, was recovered from the water and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The 37-year-old had been on holiday in the area and emergency services were called at 11.15am after he disappeared in the South Lochs.
Stephen's family have been informed. Sergeant David MacKinnon, from Stornoway Police Office, said: “Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding Stephen's death, which is not being treated as suspicious, are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
