driver was filmed drinking from a Bollinger champagne bottle while behind the wheel.Mason James Cowgill, 27, was caught on tape taking both hands off the wheel to crack open the bottle and drinking from it, as he drove along the A65 in North Yorkshire.He is also seen rolling up a cigarette and using his mobile phone to call his mates.
During both instances, he's distracted and takes his hands off the steering wheel. The incident took place on June 7 last year, when he crashed into one car and nearly caused a second crash too.
The car was damaged in the collision but thankfully nobody was injured. Cowgill, of Skipton, North Yorkshire, and the car driver exchanged details, but the 27-year-old left the scene before officers arrived.
North Yorkshire Police said he was "lucky he didn't kill anyone" as he continued his journey while making more phone calls to friends and almost causing another crash.
