Snow is forecast to hit several parts of the country on the big V day, with temperatures plummeting to -3C in some areas of the UK.

The freezing temperatures will come after rain and high-force winds hitting the majority of the country on Sunday, The Mirror reports. It's predicted that Northern England and Scotland will be the places worst affected, with weather forecasters expecting snow to fall on Monday morning.Temperatures will hover around the 7C and 8C mark in other areas - but the 50mph winds will make it feel much colder, according to The Met Office.Forecasters say an active jet stream will drive a series of low-pressure systems across the country over the weekend, causing the miserable weather. The first of these systems are predicted to have crossed to the north of Scotland today (Saturday, February 12), bringing wet and windy weather in from the north and west.England, Wales, and southern Scotland was predicted to have experienced outbreaks of rain, while the southeast was supposed to have stayed mostly dry with some sunshine. However, strong gusts of wind and heavy rainfall could arrive by tonight.Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Steve Ramsdale, said: “A new area of low-pressure, this time moving across England and Wales, arrives on Saturday night then slowly clears to the east on Sunday. "This brings wet and windy weather to the country, particularly Wales, and we have issued a Yellow National Severe Weather Warning for rain for this. “As the system pulls away from the UK there will be another short lived, colder and more settled spell Monday night with one or two wintry showers possible over high ground in Scotland and perhaps a frost elsewhere.”The yellow weather warning for rain is in place for parts of Wales.
