Woman and child rushed to hospital following smash in south Manchester

A woman had to be rescued from a car crash in Wythenshawe before before being taken to hospital with a child. Emergency services descended on Hollyhedge Road at around 9.30pm tonight (April 26).

Images from the scene show firefighters, police and an ambulance in attendance. An area was taped off by the fire service and a section of Hollyhedge Road was closed off.

Fire crews could be seen working on a Ford Mondeo which was involved in the collision. The Manchester Evening News understands one woman was rescued from a vehicle involved in the collision. understands. It's believed there were no serious injuries as a result of the crash. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said:“At around 9.30pm today (Friday April 26) two fire engines from Wythenshawe fire station and the technical response unit from Ashton fire station were called to a crash involving two vehicles on Hollyhedge Road, Manchester. “Firefighters used specialist equipment to rescue one woman from a vehicle before transferring them to the care of colleagues from North West Ambulance Service.
