Seven-year-old takes World Book Day to another level with Ms Trunchbull outfit

Yesterday, thousands of kids across the UK dressed up as their favourite characters to mark World Book Day. Everyone’s outfit was a winner, but one seven-year-old girl took the day to another level when she dressed up as a character from Roald Dahl’s Matilda.

Lilly Cant embodied the character that would have frightened any child when they read the book or saw the movie – and that person is Ms Agatha Trunchbull.

The youngster, from Devon, had her mum Laura, 29, in stitches when she strolled into her school wearing the outfit on Thursday.

She wore the classic 1972 Olympics hoodie, drew a monobrow and put on a weight belt while carrying a bag of shot puts. Laura said: “Matilda is Lilly's favourite book and one of her favourite films.
