Scots football star Kevin McDonald pays tribute to 'unsung hero' brother for saving his life with kidney donation

Scotland footballer Kevin McDonald has thanked his brother for saving his life after he was discharged from hospital following a kidney transplant.

The midfielder paid an emotional tribute to elder brother Fraser who offered to donate his organ and was approved as a match.The siblings went under the knife at the end of May and 32-year-old McDonald has now been allowed to return home to continue his recovery.Earlier this year, the Carnoustie-born player revealed he has battled chronic kidney disease throughout his career and had been told by medics that he urgently needed a transplant.Having been diagnosed at the age of 18, McDonald has been under doctors' orders throughout a playing career which has included 500 appearances for clubs.
