SAS operative Peter McAleese has told for the first time how he was recruited by a Colombian drugs cartel to take out cocaine baron Pablo Escobar.
McAleese, now 77, is a seasoned warrior who served with Britain’s Parachute Regiment, the SAS, and the Rhodesian SAS as well as the South African Defence Force.
In 1989, he was approached by a group of Colombian criminals who asked him to assemble a team to take out the notorious drug lord.While McAleese has written about his colourful past before, including in the book No Mean Soldier, he has only now decided to reveal the full story about his attempt to assassinate Escobar.
