Russian tennis star Andrey Rublev writes angry message to Putin on TV camera lens

tennis star only had one thing on his mind following his victory. Rublev overcame Hubert Hurkacz in a tense three-set victory but he knows tennis is currently taking a backseat amid the escalating war between Russia and Ukraine.

And in the immediate aftermath of his victory on Friday, Rublev - from Moscow - seized the opportunity to send a desperate plea to Russian president Vladimir Putin and his country.After grabbing a pen from his bag, Rublev wrote a powerful message on the TV camera lens so that tennis fans across the world could see.The 24-year-old, simply wrote: "No war please" on the camera lens.

And after his message was displayed, fans watching his victory were quick to applaud his act.The "No To War" hashtag is currently trending on social media, and world No 7 Rublev made sure he used his power as a top-level sportsman to get his voice across.The hashtag and caption have reportedly been shared approximately 208,000 times on Instagram, with many messages accompanied by a black square.Rublev, meanwhile, will now take on the winner of Denis Shapovalov or Jiri Vesely in the Dubai Tennis Championships final on Sunday.
