Vladimir Putin could hit the UK with a nuke in less than an hour — and the UK may not be as prepared for it as you would think, according to a leading atomic bomb expert.

The Russian President put his nuclear arsenal on "special alert" over the weekend in response to a wave of strict economic sanctions from the international community, which came after his shocking invasion of Ukraine last week.While this is not thought to mean that a nuclear attack on his NATO enemies is likely to happen, it has got some people worried about what a bomb would mean for Britain if Moscow did go down this hellish warpath.

Shockingly, Professor Andrew Futter,a leading nuclear weapons expert from the University of Leicester, has told MyLondon this week that "we basically aren't protected" if a nuke was ever fired at our capital.

In a distressing revelation, he explained: “We don’t have any way to intercept Russian ballistic missiles flying towards the UK.“We might be able to block bomber aircraft, but much of the Russian nuclear arsenal is based on missiles.
