BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker was forced to apologise to viewers of the show when a Ukrainian guest swore at Russian President Vladimir Putin while live on air.
Ukrainian singer Maria Burmaka joined Dan and his co-host Sally Nugent on the morning show to talk about the current situation, as Russia continues to attack Ukraine.
During their emotive chat, Maria told Dan, 44, and Sally, 50, how she feels about President Putin as she discussed the invasion and the impact on the Ukrainian people.
She passionately said: “I want to say to Putin, you are a murderer, an aggressor. Ukraine was never against Russia.” Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter The singer continued: “There are many Russian singers and Russian sportsmen who were in Kyiv.” “We are friendly folk, but you are heresy in our country and as our soldiers say…” Maria then said a phrase in Ukrainian, before continuing to translate it for the UK viewers, saying it meant: “F**k you.” But as the words left Maria’s mouth, Dan quickly stepped in to correct her, explaining he had to say sorry about her language.
