Ron Wright was a Republican U.S. Representative from Texas’ 6th congressional district, in the Arlington area.Wright began his political career in 2000 as a member of the Arlington, Texas city council.
In 2004, he became Arlington’s mayor pro-tem, serving until 2008. He later served as U.S. Rep. Joe Barton’s chief of staff, and then the Tarrant County tax assessor.
When Barton chose not to seek reelection in 2018 after a scandal involving explicit photos, Wright ran for his office and won, after rising to the top of a run-off election for the Republican primary.
