Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes his former club should try and hire Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel as their next permanent manager, saying the German boss is a 'sitting duck.' The highly-rated coach took charge at Stamford Bridge in January last year after Frank Lampard was dismissed, winning the Champions League in his first season.
He is now one of the names linked with the vacant role at Old Trafford, with it thought that Chelsea’s perilous position regarding their ownership amid the outbreak of war in Ukraine could strengthen United’s hand if they were to pick him.Other names in the hat include Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax’s Erik ten Hag, but former Red Devils defender Ferdinand said that he would be his first choice as United boss. “I'm taking Tuchel, I don't care," Ferdinand said on his podcast Vibe with Five. "If roles were reversed and Man Utd were there and we had Tuchel as a sitting duck at our football club, presuming that he is a sitting duck from the reports that we're hearing, there is a chance you could get him."Tuchel would be the one because he has shown that he has got the pedigree.
