Manchester United are set to step up their progress in their quest to appoint their next permanent manager over the coming weeks after holding talks with Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.
The Dutchman, who has been linked with the job ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked by United back in November, was interviewed for the role and further talks are scheduled to take place.
Ten Hag, as revealed by the Manchester Evening News, is the Reds' hierarchy's preferred candidate to land the job and lead the club's next chapter.
However, he is not the only manager that remains in with a chance of gracing the Old Trafford managerial hot-seat next season.
