Charles Ingram
Charles William Ingram (born 6 August 1963) is an English novelist, computer repairman, and former British Army major who became known for being accused and convicted of cheating on the television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2001, after winning the maximum prize of one million pounds. Following a lengthy trial at Southwark Crown Court, he was convicted on a single count of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception. He was convicted of an unrelated insurance fraud in 2003, and ordered to resign his commission as a major by the Army Board.

Quiz star Michael Sheen slams ITV for getting his name wrong during introduction

Michael Sheen was among the millions that tuned in to see the second instalment of Quiz but he was left fuming before the show even started.

The 51-year-old actor plays Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? quiz master Chris Tarrant in the three-part dramatisation of Charles Ingram cheating his way to winning the top prize.

Despite it being ITV's big hit of the coronavirus lockdown period, the name of the show's star turn seemed to escape the announcer, who introduced him wrongly.

As the continuity trailer introduced the second instalment of Quiz, the live announcer said "Martin Sheen" would be playing Millionaire host Chris Tarrant while "James Macfadyen" was playing Charles Ingram.
