Premier League could be set for the return of five substitutes with clubs reportedly expecting a vote to alter the regulations.Top-flight teams have been told to anticipate a vote at June's annual general meeting and if passed the changes would come into place for the start of the 2022/23 season.Current rules dictate that member clubs can only make three substitutions during the course of 90 minutes, but teams can name up to nine substitutes on the bench. The report from the Daily Mail claims that a captain's call on the matter is scheduled for Tuesday (March 15) where the likes of Jordan Henderson and Cesar Azpilicueta will discuss the benefits and hindrances of the potential change.During the interrupted 2019/20 campaign, Premier League sides were able to send on five substitutes from June, due to mid-season changes.Adapted rules for Project Restart stated that member clubs were allowed to replace up to five players from the starting line-up but this had to be done via three breaks in play.Following a vote ahead of the 2020/21 season, Premier League sides opted to revert to three substitutes with a general consensus that more player changes favour the 'big 6' as they boast stronger squads.Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes it is "essential" that Premier League clubs vote through a rule change for more substitutions.HAVE YOUR SAY!
