The series was created and produced by Andrei Alén and Aku Louhimies (“Rebellion”).

Kourtney Kardashian is paying tribute to Chris Baker, the late assistant and close friend of her husband, Travis Barker.On Sunday, the 44-year-old reality star took to Instagram, sharing a photo at Chris' grave site on his birthday, posting a heart emoji after putting flowers on Chris' grave.Travis also posted a photo from the grave site to his own account.Chris was one of four fatalities that occurred in the 2008 plane crash, which traumatized Travis, who was one of two survivors.At the time, the small plane, which was traveling from Columbia, South Carolina to Los Angeles, crashed, killing Chris and Travis' security guard, Charles «Che» Still, as well as both of the pilots. Travis' best friend Adam «DJ AM» Goldstein also survived the crash, but died one year later in 2009.The Blink-182 drummer has been candid about the traumatic event leaving him suicidal and terrified of ever flying again.In 2021, Barker shared a photo kissing Kourtney in front of a plane ahead of his first post-crash ride, writing, «With you anything is possible.»A post shared by travisbarker (@travisbarker)The couple have since gone on many plane rides together, including the one to Italy in 2022 for their romantic destination wedding in Portofino.

Marta Balaga Finnish actors Alma Pöysti and Jussi Vatanen have been making names for each other for a while now. But playing leads in Aki Kaurismäki’s latest film, “Fallen Leaves,” was a whole different story. “He has always been that household name, even when I was growing up on a farm in the 1980s, kicking a ball against our cowhouse. It’s crazy that now, we are here together. Also, he is really just a regular guy. Funny and he actually talks a lot,” Vatanen tells Variety in Cannes. A household name himself thanks to the “Lapland Odyssey” franchise, he has been exploring dramatic roles in “Forest Giant” or “The Man Who Died.”

Berlinale Series Market’s annual project pitching event, “Tipping Point” walked off Tuesday morning with the Series Mania Award. The prize is an invitation to the production’s team to present again at the industry centrepiece at next month’s Lille-based get-together, the Series Mania Forum’s Co-Pro Pitching Sessions. “Tipping Point” joins 15 other projects as a sixteenth project presented out of competition in partnership with the Berlinale Co-Production Market.  Set in the extraordinary Svalbard – an archipelago half way between the northern coast of Norway and the North Pole, it  turns on a feisty young eco-activist at constant odds with her father, an oil exec, until he is murdered. Teaming with some of his friends to investigate his death, she discovers another man from the one she knew, as she chases a stolen software which could solve climate crisis or destroy the world.

Marta Balaga Fifth Season has acquired international distribution rights to Elisa Viihde original series “The Man Who Died.” The company, formerly known as Endeavor Content, is behind “The Lost Daughter” or “Cha Cha Real Smooth.” It also handles global distribution for such hit shows as “Killing Eve,” “The Morning Show” or “Normal People.”  Based on the bestselling book by Antti Tuomainen, the six-episode series is led by Jussi Vatanen, who will next be seen in Aki Kaurismäki’s upcoming feature “Dead Leaves.” Saara Kotkaniemi and Sara Soulié, his co-star in Solar Films’ drama “Forest Giant,” also star.   

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor Eric Welbers, who served as managing director of the production company NDF until the end of March, has set up the internationally focused content company Bravado Media, with headquarters in Munich. Bravado has acquired all of NDF’s shares in Italy’s Viola Film (an 80% stake), headed by Alessandro Passadore, and Belgium-based Bravado Fiction (also an 80% stake), headed by Jan Theys, and Welbers is increasing his stake in NDF Intl. Production, which he will continue to run together with Matthias Walter. The new company will make its first market appearance at next week’s trade fair for audiovisual content Mipcom in Cannes.
