K.J. Yossman U.K.-based distributor Omega Global Media has boarded Brendan Foley’s Hans Christian Andersen-inspired crime drama “Fairytale Detective.” Each one-hour episode follows Andersen as he solves crimes in 1850s Copenhagen aided by a coterie of characters from his stories, who come to life to help him find justice.
While embarking on his unusual hobby, he hopes to convince Jenny Lind, the love of his life, to marry him. Andersen was a prolific writer and creative storyteller who came up with “The Little Mermaid” and “The Ugly Duckling,” among other well-known tales.
Omega Global Media managing director Danny Goldman will be previewing creative material for the eight-episode series at Mipcom next week as part of the co-production and pre-sale financing strategy.
Foley, who created and writes “Fairytale Detective,” recently delivered “Sherlock & Daughter” (CW/WBD) which is currently in post and stars “Harry Potter’s” David Thewlis as well as Season 2 of Elisa Viihde’s hit “The Man Who Died” starring Jussi Vattanen (“Fallen Leaves”).
