Music lovers attending Lollapalooza 2023 should be ready to rock — but the lineup features more than just heavy-hitting bands.

The Global Citizen Festival is returning.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic The Global Citizen Festival will return to Central Park Sept. 23 for another ticketed-but-free concert, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Ms. Lauryn Hill set as the day’s headliners. Megan Thee Stallion, Conan Gray and Stray Kids are also on the day’s bill.  As always, tickets to the show on the Great Lawn are free, but require fulfilling a task as part of the international advocacy organization Global Citizen’s initiative to raise awareness about hunger, poverty, climate change and inequities facing women around the world, among pressing related concerns. The broadcast component will be produced by Done and Dusted; broadcast partners have not yet been announced. The show is being presented by  by Citi and Cisco. 

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has a daily ritual that may seem unusual for a rocker: prayer. "I’m a praying guy," the 60-year-old told the Los Angeles Times. "I pray in the morning when I get up, when I go to bed, when I eat.

Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ frontman Anthony Keidis has opened up about his views on being a musician, sharing that he doesn’t consider himself one.During an episode of RHCP bassist Flea‘s podcast This Little Light, Keidis voiced his lack of confidence with the role of ‘musician’. The show will air live at 8 p.m. ET and PT. “Celebrating one of our biggest nights in music with the Garden State’s incredible fans has been our goal since last year’s highly successful event,” said Bruce Gillmer, President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events, Paramount and Chief Content Officer, Music, Paramount+. Last year’s show was hosted by Nicki Minaj, who was honored during the show with the Video Vanguard Award, while the Global Icon Award was given to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Iggy Pop has shared a new mini-documentary that features an in-depth conversation with Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea – watch below.The 26-minute film, titled Bitten By Flea!, sees the two musicians sit down together to talk about a range of topics, including The Stooges‘ influence on Flea, their experiences working with producer Andrew Watt, and Pop’s commitment to starting the morning with “a good face”.“If you’re not in a good mood – fool yourself, motherfucker! Don’t get down, don’t let yourself get down,” the legendary singer continues before mimicking a chirpy TV morning show host.Elsewhere, Pop recalls receiving an open letter from U2 frontman Bono: “He said, ‘In rock ‘n’ roll, or modern popular music, there is a sort of regency in which certain people occupy the castle and pull up the drawbridge. Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has announced that he is launching a new podcast.Entitled This Little Light, the 15-part series will see him sharing his musical memories with the likes of Rick Rubin, Cynthia Erivo, Thundercat, Patti Smith, and Margo Price on topics including first teachers, early influences, experiences, and how all these lessons shaped their creativity and careers.A portion of the proceeds from the podcast will go towards the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a non-profit music school and organisation that Flea founded in 2001.“I wanted to do This Little Light to benefit my music school, the Silverlake Conservatory of Music,” Flea said in a statement via Rolling Stone. “The idea behind it being music education, falling in love with music and embarking on a musical journey for your life.
