Yo Gabba Gabba! is set to return to screens this summer, and will come with a star-studded musical line-up.A spin-off to the popular kids TV show which ran from 2007 to 2015, titled Yo Gabba GabbaLand!, will premiere on Apple TV+ on August 9. Check out the trailer for the new series below.The 10-episode series, which was announced in April, will feature a number of well-known names in the music world, with Apple TV+ confirming the involvement of Flea, Anderson .Paak, Betty Who, Diplo, Kurt Vile and Thundercat among others.The show, which was originally presented by DJ Lance Rock (Lance Robertson), is centred around music, encouraging viewers to sing and dance along, as well as showing them life and social skills.

Peggy Gou, Justice and LCD Soundsystem have been announced as headliners for a brand new event by the creators of Life Is Beautiful.Titled A Big Beautiful Block Party, the new two-day fest will make its way to Downtown Las Vegas on September 27 and 28. Other acts set to perform include the likes of Jamie XX, Jungle, James Blake, Thundercat, Toro y Moi, Badbadnotgood, Neil Frances, LP Giobbi, Empress Of, John Talabot, and Fifi.The festival will be comprised of two stages offering non-stop music from 5pm to 2am each day.

Thundercat has spoken about becoming sober, revealing that he chose an awkward time to quit alcohol.The bass virtuoso has been sober for five years and spoke about how sobriety influenced his music in a new interview for NME In Conversation. “In life, I just chose something different, and what comes with it comes with it,” he said. “In certain respects, it feels like I had to learn to walk and talk again.

Damon Albarn recently joined Thundercat on stage and performed a handful of solo tracks and a Gorillaz song.The Gorillaz frontman appeared at the third night of Thundercat’s four-night residency at London’s KOKO venue on Friday April 5 as part of his UK tour.Albarn joined the bassist towards the end of his set. Thundercat has announced the details of his upcoming 2024 UK and Ireland tour.The two-time Grammy Award-winning artist will kick off the tour at the O2 Academy in Glasgow on March 25. From there, he will make stops in Dublin, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and Wolverhampton.

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has announced that he is launching a new podcast.Entitled This Little Light, the 15-part series will see him sharing his musical memories with the likes of Rick Rubin, Cynthia Erivo, Thundercat, Patti Smith, and Margo Price on topics including first teachers, early influences, experiences, and how all these lessons shaped their creativity and careers.A portion of the proceeds from the podcast will go towards the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a non-profit music school and organisation that Flea founded in 2001.“I wanted to do This Little Light to benefit my music school, the Silverlake Conservatory of Music,” Flea said in a statement via Rolling Stone. “The idea behind it being music education, falling in love with music and embarking on a musical journey for your life.

Thundercat has recorded a cover of Ryuichi Sakamoto‘s ‘Thousand Knives’, the title track from the Japanese composer’s 1978 solo debut – listen to it below.The cover is part of a new compilation that pays tribute to Sakamoto,in celebration of his 70th birthday. ‘A Tribute To Ryuichi Sakamoto: To The Moon And Back’ is due out on December 2 via Milan Records.Thundercat’s bass-laden take on ‘Thousand Knives’ is about half the length of Sakamoto’s vocoder-heavy original, with brand-new English lyrics fitting with the melody.It’s the first single from the album, with other artists to appear including Devonté Hynes (AKA Blood Orange), Fennesz, David Sylvian, Cornelius, and the Cinematic Orchestra.Last month, Sakamoto shared two new songs that were made for the Netflix anime series Exception.
