Solange has confirmed details of a new book commemorating her 2019 performance at the 58th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale de Venezia. The book, 188-page In Past Pupils and Smiles, retails at $55 and can be purchased here.

Yo Gabba Gabba! is set to return to screens this summer, and will come with a star-studded musical line-up.A spin-off to the popular kids TV show which ran from 2007 to 2015, titled Yo Gabba GabbaLand!, will premiere on Apple TV+ on August 9. Check out the trailer for the new series below.The 10-episode series, which was announced in April, will feature a number of well-known names in the music world, with Apple TV+ confirming the involvement of Flea, Anderson .Paak, Betty Who, Diplo, Kurt Vile and Thundercat among others.The show, which was originally presented by DJ Lance Rock (Lance Robertson), is centred around music, encouraging viewers to sing and dance along, as well as showing them life and social skills.

Solange has revealed that she has been working on new music – although in a different way to what fans are used to.The musician’s last studio album arrived five years ago, when she dropped the 2019 LP ‘When I Get Home’. Since then, she has turned her efforts to composing a 2022 ballet score.Now, however, it seems Solange is once again venturing into a new direction: focusing her efforts on writing music on the tuba.The R&B star opened up about the new material she has been working on during a recent discussion with Harper’s Bazaar, and revealed that the next project she releases may be comprised entirely of her playing the instrument.“I’ve started writing music for the tuba, and I am trying to talk myself into releasing it,” she began, going on to open up about her reluctance to officially share the new material.

Solange is the subject of a lengthy new cover story in Harper’s Bazaar. It’s an interesting read, with Solange speaking about her myriad artistic projects, which include a glassware line and becoming just the second Black woman to compose a score for New York City Ballet. Steve Lacy pops up, too, revealing that Solange decorated his home (he describes it as “Clean, futuristic, classic, Black”).

Solange has shared preview footage and images from her new four-act performance, In Service To Whom.The R&B artist shared clips of the headline performance from the inaugural Volume festival, hosted at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia in October 2023.The multimedia presentation was described as combination of “sonic meditations with performance-specific scenography and digital-visual archive projections” that integrates the artist’s “spirit in music, design, visual art, and cultural archive and preservation into one four-act performance”.The piece included a 10-piece ensemble and orchestral works composed by Solange between 2018 and 2023 (‘Villanelle For Times’, ‘God Rest Your’, ‘Bridge-s’, and ‘In Past Pupils and Smiles’), alongside her contemporary music.According the exhibition notes, In Service To Whom was inspired by the idea of rest, and “speaks to the artist’s reemergence into the world of everyday life following periods of personal incubation and self-revitalization at home”.A post shared by Solange (@solangeknowles)Solange shared on her Saint Heron creative hub that the compositions were “inspired by repetition, gospel vocal arrangements, minimalism, and the Black southern marching band music of football games frequented by the artist in her hometown of Houston, Texas”.The performance also debuted two original works – a duo tuba piece called ‘Not Necessarily In Arms Reach, Music for Two Tubas’ and a solo cello and double bass number titled ‘If the Promise is Large’.The full gallery of pictures can be viewed here.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music has announced a new spring concert and film series called “Eldorado Ballroom,” curated by Solange with her Saint Heron Collective. It kicks off March 30 with a show featuring Kelela, Res, and KeiyaA, followed by two nights of “Type of Guest,” a celebration of wordless storytelling by interdisciplinarian Autumn Knight and visual artist Maren Hassenger, with two film showcases — “Unseen Nuyorican Pictures” and “Coeval Dance Films” — and two more concerts — “Glory to Glory (A Revial For Devotional Art),” helmed by Twinkie Clark & The Clark Sisters, and “The Cry of My People,’ featuring jazz legends Archie Shepp and Linda Sharrock as well as celebrated poet, playwright, and essayist Claudia Rankine — during the following week.

Solange is composing her first ballet score, which will accompany a production by the New York City Ballet.Solange’s piece will soundtrack an as-yet-untitled work choreographed by Gianna Reisen, which will premiere at New City Ballet’s annual Fall Fashion Gala on Wednesday September 28.As The New York Times reports, the Ballet-commissioned piece is written for a chamber ensemble made up of some of Solange’s musical collaborators, along with members of the New York City Ballet orchestra.It will mark Solange’s debut in the world of ballet, who studied dance and theatre as a child, served as a backup dancer for older sister Beyonce‘s group Destiny’s Child, and has often incorporated theatric elements into the production of her live performances.Solange’s last album, ‘When I Get Home’, arrived back in 2019.

Solange Knowles was nearly set to appear in Austin Powers film Goldmember alongside sister Beyoncé.The latter famously starred as Foxxy Cleopatra in the 2003 comedy film opposite Mike Myers, though a new oral history from Vulture claims that her younger sister was lined-up as a backup singer.“I put her sister, Solange, in it as Foxxy’s backup singer,” choreographer Marguerite Derricks said. “I remember Beyoncé and I giggling because she was young and everything in Austin Powers is so suggestive.
