Joe Otterson TV Reporter Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino have scored a two-season order for a series set in the world of ballet at Amazon, Variety has learned. Titled “Étoile,” the series will take place in both New York and Paris. Each season will consist of eight episodes. The official logline states that the show “follows the dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies, as they embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions by swapping their most talented stars.” The cast for the series includes Luke Kirby (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “The Deuce”), Camille Cottin (“Call My Agent!,” “House of Gucci”), Simon Callow (“Outlander,” “Four Weddings and a Funeral”), Lou de Laâge (“The Innocents”), Gideon Glick (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Marriage Story”), and David Alvarez (“West Side Story”).

As The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is wrapping its five-season run, Emmy-winning creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino are prepping their next series. Prime Video has given a two-season order to Sherman-Palladino and Palladino’s Étoile, starring Mrs. Maisel duo of Luke Kirby, who won an Emmy for his work on the show, and Gideon Glick as well as Call My Agent! standout Camille Cottin, Simon Callow (Outlander), Lou de Laâge (The Innocents) and David Alvarez (West Side Story).

Companies ranging from Pantone to Saks Fifth Avenue are part of an ambitious marketing campaign tied to the April 14 premiere of “Maisel” Season 5. Activities that day include the series’ cast, along with exec producers Amy Sherman Palladino and Daniel Palladino, ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, as well as a mile-long “takeover” of Fifth Avenue in New York from 46th Street to 56th Street and a 4 p.m. ‘60s-themed fitness class at the TWA Hotel at JFK airport.

Charna Flam Prime Video has released the first official trailer for its Emmy-winning comedy series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” The upcoming fifth and final season will have a total of eight episodes. The season will premiere with three episodes on April 14, followed by one new episode each Friday, until the May 26 series finale. The fifth season plot has been kept under wraps, but according to Prime Video, “Midge finds herself closer than ever to the success she’s dreamed of, only to discover that closer than ever is still so far away.” Created, written, directed and executive produced by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, the series stars Rachel Brosnahan, Tony Shalhoub, Alex Borstein, Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen, Kevin Pollak, Caroline Aaron, Reid Scott, Alfie Fuller and Jason Ralph.

Just ask the showrunners behind Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” or the producer of Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming HBO Max limited series “Full Circle.” “We had an incident yesterday on our set in Queens: a crazy person grabbed a grip by the hair and was trying to take a swing at her. Thank God she got away and he ran off,” “Circle” producer Jonathan Filley said in late September. “And we just had a car rear-end another car, which ran into our electric truck. … There’s a lot of mental instability in the city these days.” This wouldn’t be a shock to “Maisel” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino or her fellow showrunner, Daniel Palladino. who had a hazardous Washington Square Park shoot in spring 2021. “There had been a lot of anti-police protests, and weirdos were encroaching on our set,” Palladino says. “There were no police, and we finally bolted. We had our own security, but there was a group of film students who were keeping an eye on us.” (“And our purses!” Sherman-Palladino chimes in.) “They were chasing some people off, and we realized our de facto security was a bunch of 18-year-olds at NYU.”

Fans know and love Rachel Brosnahan as the star of but rumors have been swirling about Brosnahan possibly joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The  character Sue Storm has been floated by online commentators as a choice for Brosnahan — whose powerful screen presence and record for playing TV mother could make her a strong contender. ET caught up with Brosnahan at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park where she talked about the casting rumors. The actress revealed that at the moment she is focused on finishing the last season of but is not closing any doors on the possibility of becoming a superhero for her next role. «I haven't heard anything, unfortunately, but I'm here, it's our last season.
