Maisel. In a new interview, Michael opened up about the shocking first episode of the final season – where one of the main stars left! WARNING: SPOILERS INSIDE! According to TV Line, Stephanie Hsu, who played Joel’s girlfriend, Mei, left the show after her character aborted their unborn child and she was headed to Chicago to become a doctor. Michael admitted that the twist caught him off guard. “It was a complete shock after reading the first episode,” he shared. “I thought maybe she was going to come back, but [Stephanie] told me she wasn’t.
