Premier League footballers have started to hire former SAS soldiers to protect their homes while they play following a number of recent break-ins.
Players have turned to hiring private security firms which use ex-SAS soldiers to provide additional security at their homes while they are not there.This comes after several players' properties were targeted by intruders in recent weeks, including Manchester United's Victor Lindelof and Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo.Clubs in the north west are also understood to have begun sharing information with each other regarding the incidents in an attempt to protect their players even further.The Daily Mail report that in addition to players hiring the additional security, clubs have set up a discussion group as they look to provide as much support as possible.Both Manchester clubs are said to be involved, alongside Everton, Liverpool and Burnley, all of which have several players living in the areas of the north west targeted in recent months.Just last week, Lindelof's wife and two young sons were forced to hide in a room at their home as intruders broke in while the defender was playing for United away at Brentford.As a result, Lindelof was absent from Saturday's win against West Ham United so that he could spend time with his family.What more needs to be done to protect players and their families?
