UFC's new rising star Paddy Pimblett these past nine years - quite literally in fact.Pimblett, 27, is preparing for his second bout with the organisation at UFC London this Saturday, when he takes on Mexican fighter Rodrigo 'Kazula' Vargas at lightweight level.

The bout will form part of the undercard for the heavyweight clash between Alexander Volkov and Tom Aspinall, while Pimblett's fellow Liverpudlian Molly McCann will also be in action against Luana Carolina.'Paddy the Baddy' twice rejected chances to sign with Dana White's promotion during his time with Cage Warriors, where he enjoyed a reign as featherweight champion.

He eventually made his UFC bow in Las Vegas last September with a devastating display against Brazilian Luigi Vendramini.Pimblett knocked out his opponent with 35 seconds remaining in the opening round, a display which earned him the 'Performance of the Night' honour and sent a stern message to the lightweight division.

He will again be favourite to prevail against Vargas this weekend. But ahead of the bout, he took to Twitter to respond a picture posted by @DiaztwinsMMA which compared his frame in 2021 to that of 2013, when just 12 months into his MMA career. "Told yas, I been doing this since I was a baby!" he wrote in reply. "That pic on the left I was a 135er now I’m a man ready to kill anyone at 155!!!!"The post prompted a humorous reply from a former Cage Warriors rival, Irish MMA fighter Martin Sheridan, who Pimblett beat at featherweight level in March 2014 via unanimous decision. "I remember the lad on the left well," wrote Sheridan. "Although for my own ego I will only tell people that the man on the right beat me.
