Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin has confirmed English Premier League side Nottingham Forest want to sign academy star Cormac Daly. The 16-year-old could be set to follow in the footsteps of former academy team-mate Josh McDonald, who sealed a big move down south to English Championship outfit Leeds United last month, as Accies cash in on their crop of talented kids.Hamilton's under-18s won the Club Academy Scotland Elite Under-18 League last season and have qualified for this season's UEFA Youth League - the Champions League of youth football. But with that success, bigger clubs have been circling the New Douglas Park academy. And first team boss Rankin admitted there is interest in prising the Scotland U17 midfielder away from South Lanarkshire.

He told Lanarkshire Live Sport : "Nottingham Forest have made an approach to say they are interested. "There's been no talks yet, just a letter of interest."How that develops over the next week or so, we'll wait and see because we get lots of letters of interest in our players."When you win the under-18 league - and the boys are getting ready to go into the UEFA Youth League now - that will always get interest."When you are at the top of the league, teams come to watch.

So last season there were a lot of teams watching our under-18s and with the likes of Josh McDonald and Cormac being involved, teams will look at them."It is up to them what they want to do with it."They are our players and until anything is done to meet what we are looking for, there's no action taken."That's what happens when there's a successful team on the pitch."Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
