iOS - Android Councillor Jim Logue, leader of North Lanarkshire Council, said: “The situation in Afghanistan is deeply worrying but through working with our colleagues in COSLA, we are looking forward to welcoming the first family by the end of September.“We will continue to welcome families in a considered approach to ensure we have available properties and services in place to support them.“North Lanarkshire has a proud and compassionate record of ensuring that people escaping terror are made to feel welcome as they start to build new lives here.“We stand ready to provide our full support and we will do everything within our powers to help those people in the greatest need.”The council has also said that it aims to welcome more families.
