Bishal Dutta’s feature film directorial debut is inspired by his own childhood of being born in India before moving to North America.

The story, co-written by Dutta and Ashish Mehta, takes influence from Indian demonic mythology and sees Indian-American teenager Sam (Megan Suri) unwittingly releasing an evil entity that grows stronger by feeding on her loneliness.

Sam’s struggles with her cultural identity and the mythology used is all that really separates It Lives Inside from many other similarly-themed horror flicks.
