Marvin Compper has retired from football and sealed an instant coaching role at German third tier side Duisburg. The one-cap Germany international cost Celtic £1million when he signed three years ago but was completely frozen out at Parkhead under Brendan Rodgers and featured in just one solitary game for the Hoops - a 3-0 Scottish Cup win against Morton.
He was allowed to leave to return to his homeland and played his first game for an incredible 505 days when he made his debut for Duisburg last season.But after a season playing in Germany's lower leagues, Compper has now announced his retirement at the age of 35.
And he is now an assistant coach at Duisburg.Compper said: "I am very grateful to Duisburg to allow me to take my first steps.
